Chrysler Spotlights “Imported From Detroit” Talent

September 30, 2011

A couple weeks ago, Chrysler took home the Emmy for Outstanding Commercial for their “Imported from Detroit” ad which prominently featured rapper Eminem. On their YouTube channel, however, Chrysler is taking the time to spotlight some of the other talent.

Michigan’s local heroes include Alissa Czisny, who was the 2011 US National Champion ice skater. In the original ad, she was central in the outdoor ice skating scene. You can watch her featured video below.

Perhaps less famous (but no less hard-working) is police officer Rowland Bell. A law enforcement officer since 1986, Bell has seen the highs and lows of Detroit, and he has a true love for the people of Detroit. He calls them “fighters” and “some of the toughest people in the world. You can watch his featured video below.

Sports fans will probably recognize Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions. Suh has a history of giving back to Detroit. Recently, he donated pads, helmets, and other equipment to a Detroit high school football team whose equipment was stolen out of their fieldhouse. You can watch his featured video below.

If you were wondering about the gospel choir featured in the original Chrysler ad, they are the Selected of God Choir. Founded and directed by Pastor Larry Callahan, the choir already has been performing and touring for ten years. Their cover of Eminem’s Lose Yourself for the ad has gotten them national attention since the ad aired, and proceeds from iTunes downloads of the song are going to Detroit-area charities. You can watch their featured video below.
